Immigration has increased in Aguilas considerably

Aguilas has registered a considerable increase of immigrants compared to those registered in 2004. Specifically, according to the information given by the Attention Service to Immigrants of Aguilas, there is a total of 4..257 registered immigrants in the town of Aguilas in October 2005, being the registered population of 32.639, in relation with the 2.837 that were registered in 2004, having in mind that the total population registered in Aguilas in that year was of 30.359.
Besides, the oficial toll points out that of those current 4.257 immigrants, 2.628 are men and 1,929 are women.
These numbers incluye immigrants that belon to the European Community and those that do not (foreigner), they all use this service and therefore are included in this group.
Maria Jose Garcia, social worker of the Attention Service to Immigrants, has stated that:
“A person is considered immigrant when he/she changes their residence to another area to improve their quality of life. The foreigner, however, is that person that simple moves to another country but the reasons for this action is not known. “Foreigner and immigrant are all but there are foreigners that are not immigrants, they are not looking for a job and they are not trying to improve their quality of life” she specified.
